I would like to compare and contrast the socialization of American society and one society mentioned in the “Global Sociology” and that is Japan. One aspect is age and traditions around the same. In America, often for elderly people can and do call each other through first names. In many western cultures this socialization aspect is common. It is not considered rude or offensive. For example, I used to call a professor in college by his name and he never got offended at all. In fact he used to prefer being called by his name.
